Abdul Basit Shafi was born in Pakistan. He was the [NUMBER] child in a family of [NUMBER]. His father worked as an [JOB] and his mother [FAMILY INFORMATION]. Abdul showed a keen interest in drawing from an early age. It was obvious that he was a ‘natural’, but he didn’t find out how good he was until his parents entered one of his paintings in a contest at the [NAME] art college in [CITY], Turkey where he now lived. He won first prize out of [NUMBER] entrants and was subsequently awarded a 4-year art scholarship.
